Uplifting Podcasts To Check Out While Social Distancing

I think it’s safe to admit that right now, in the thick of COVID-19, there’s a bit of an information overload.

To the point that paying attention to any news outlet can feel down right overwhelming! What I’ve noticed is that while everyone has told us to wash our hands, stay home, stay safe and stay healthy. I haven’t seen an abundance of resources that share how to maintain your spiritual or mental health and well-being…I’m just sayin!

Given that’s the case, I’m selective about what I allow myself to listen to and the amount of time that I dedicate to it. Don’t get me wrong, I am all about being informed, but at the same time sis needs to protect her energy. You feel me?

That said, today I wanted to share what I have allowed myself to digest that has helped me feel motivated, uplifted, inspired, hopeful, and optimistic during this time. These are podcasts that I’ve always enjoyed, but that I’ve found myself gravitating towards while social distancing. Without further adieu, here is my list of uplifting podcasts that I recommend that you check out…

Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations

If a podcast were soul food – this would be it! I grew up with Oprah as the leading face of day-time television, and feel this is the perfect follow-up to nourish my mind and spirit. My favorite episodes include her discussions with Tracee Ellis Ross, Michelle Obama, and Bishop T.D. Jakes.

Therapy for Black Girls

A peer told me about this a few years ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since! Dr. Joy Harden Bradford created a podcast about all things mental wellness that identifies the mall decisions that we can make to become the best versions of ourselves.

To date, some of my favorite topics covered have been Re-imagining Single Life, Protecting Your Dreams, Challenges of Black Women in Leadership, and Procrastination.

Unlocking Us with Brené Brown

I’ve heard this described as the podcast that we didn’t even know that we needed, especially during COVID-19.

Brené Brown unpacks and explores the ideas, stories, experiences that reflect the universal experiences of being human. Of course she will cover the topics that’s we know her best for, which are bravery and vulnerability.

NPR How I Built This with Guy Raz

This features the stories behind some of today’s biggest brands. It is a narrative journey that takes us through the twists and turns of entrepreneurship. My favorite episodes feature the brands AirBnB, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Dippin Dots, and Carol’s Daughter.

WSJ Secrets of Wealthy Women

I enjoy this podcast, because quite honestly, who doesn’t want to know the secrets of successful women executives, workplace pioneers, self-made entrepreneurs and industry experts?

I am so excited to share these with you! I highly recommend that you give them a listen and be sure leave a comment and let me know what you think. Happy Listening Y’all!
