Finding the perfect pair of jeans is no easy feat – to be perfectly honest, the struggle can be very real. The denim options available are endless, and what you think should look good in theory doesn’t always work. On top of that, when you have killer curves the search can be that much more complicated. My consistent challenges with denim include:
- A waist gap
- Absolutely no give! Can a girl get a little stretch?
- An unflattering posterior, due to extreme tightness or sagging
- The inability easily slide up over my thighs, hips and waist. Y’all when this happens I feel like throwing in the towel for the day!
No matter your size or shape, I’ve found that universally everyone wants to feel confident in their jeans. That’s why I’m bringing you A Curvy Girls Guide to Denim! *Breaks out into the running man dance*
Jean shopping for the spring/summer just got easier with today’s breakdown of the best denim options for curvy girls based on style and cut. Y’all believe me when I say that each of them have been put to the test over the years, and passed with flying colors. So, let’s get into it, shall we?
The Skinny Jean
The skinny jean has a form-flattering fit, with a figure-hugging rise and a classic skinny leg. I’m sure you noticed this by now, but this is my go-to denim style. In today’s post I’m wearing the The Curvy Authentic Stretch High-Rise Skinny Jean from Everlane. I really encourage you to check out my previous post linked here to get the full 4-1-1 on this denim style. Believe me when I say that you will not be disappointed!
The Mom Jean
The mom jean has a high waist with a rise that hits well above the belly button, making a woman’s lower body, particularly her posterior appear longer and flatter than it otherwise might. These are the move for more relaxed days.
The Straight Jean
The straight leg jean is a figure-flattering silhouette with a straight cut from knee to ankle. The style can be worn nearly everywhere, and with everything. The best part is that they offer a timeless retro vibe that never goes out of style.
The Wide Leg Jean
The wide leg jean has a trouser-like wide leg and a waist-cinching high rise. The best kind should hug you all the right places and create a nice dimension for the overall silhouette.
