One truth about Chicago many people don’t talk about is that it can be a very wet city, especially during the winter. In case you’re wondering what exactly do you mean Britt? Let me explain, during the winter something you can expect in Chicago are frequent snow days. The snow eventually turns into slush, and the slush will eventually turn into a large (and not to mention slightly deep) puddle.
That said, I’ve found that my feet need a little reinforcement and my go-to essential is the rain boot. In my experience, rain boots have been the best at keeping my feet dry and protected in varying weather conditions. While I am a huge fan of the rain boot, I’ve always found the comfort and overall foot support to be a con of this shoe. It just felt like rain boots weren’t constructed to fully support my feet. Often, when I would wear my rain boots for a full day, the top of my foot (technically called the dorsal surface), would feel extremely uncomfortable and ache. Needless to say, I saw them as a temporary solution to travel from Point A to Point B, but they certainly were not a full-day option.
In February, Everlane launched their very first rain boot! I spent a month testing them out in nearly every Chicago condition thrown my way, and I can honestly say that this boot is EVERYTHING. These rain boots have a cushioned comfort insole, the perfect ankle height, they are seriously stylish, and the coolest part they are ethically made! I’m obsessed with the color palette too, while I am a believer that rain boots should be fun, the color palette for these rain boots felt very fresh and complimentary to any wardrobe, especially jeans.
