During my Spring dermatology visit, my doctor and I discussed cosmetics that were safe for sensitive (acne-prone) skin, and she encouraged me to look into non-comedogenic foundations. As a result, I had to pretty much retire each of these products (remember this haul?) and start fresh.
What is non-comedogenic? It is a denotation that a skin-care product or cosmetic is specifically formulated to not cause blocked and/or clogged pores (which can lead to breakouts).
This is where the real work began, the challenge was to start paying close attention to the beauty labels in order to find a non-comedogenic foundation that not only offered a perfect match, but also provided the long-lasting coverage. Challenge Accepted!
During a visit to Sephora in effort to find a new foundation, it became extremely apparent how my beauty options dwindled as non-comedogenic became high on the priority list. As I’m sure you may have guessed, the options were slim and the shades were limited…to say the least!
After trying each of the non-comedogenic foundations available, just as I was about to put my mission to rest, my Sephora Make-Up Advisor encouraged me to give one final option a try.
She pointed out that even though it’s not technically labeled as non-comedogenic, it is labeled as non-acnegenic and should be able to suffice my needs. To my surprise, it did! *Cue in John Legend’s song Green Light*
Drum Roll Please! The winner of the best sensitive skin approved foundation is Bobbi Brown’s New Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation SPF 15. Thank you Bobbi for having a girl’s back! This is a Holy Grail of Foundation on so many levels, but let’s break this down. Based on my research, this foundation is:
- Paraben-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, and sulfite-free
- Vegan friendly and gluten-free
- Dermatologist tested
Amongst each of those amazing attributes, from my personal experience this foundation has proven to be:
- A Perfect Match (Available in 30 Shades)
- All Day Wear (Even when I sweat!)
- Non-Drying (Super Breathable)
- Amazing Coverage (It’s Multi-Dimensional Matte To Be Exact)
This foundation is EVERYTHING! I think the only thing that would make this foundation even better is if it were unscented. However, considering that scent is standard in most cosmetics, my rule is that as long as the scent is not overpowering and doesn’t bother my skin (which this foundation does not) then I’m good!
Do y’all have any sensitive skin approved foundations or beauty products that you’ve been loving as of late? If so, please feel free to let m know in the comments below.
